More groups and agencies responded to Davao City Water District’s campaign of adopt - a - site project for watersheds rehabilitation in Malagos, Mt. Talomo-Lipadas and Mt. Tipolog – Tamugan.
The newest addition in the roster of adopters in Mt. Talomo – Lipadas watershed is the “MagTV Na, Sadya Ta” program of ABS- CBN. The TV station adopted one – hectare as part of its “Kwarta sa Basura” project, a campaign to save said watershed.
This 41st adopter turned over P6,000 as its donation for the first year of adoption last February 23, 2010 during the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing held at the DCWD conference room in Matina office. ABS – CBN was represented by Trisha E. Corpus, station manager and Rhodale Apa-ap, associate producer as witnessed on behalf of Ma. Razelle P. Rodriguez, head for TV Entertainment while DCWD represented by its general manager, Rodora N. Gamboa.
GM Gamboa thanked the ABS-CBN for signifying its help in watershed preservation and protection. She also hoped that with the El Niño phenomenon, more Davaoeños will become an environment conscious specifically water conscious and will start upon them a little but consistent ways of environment care. With this, collectively we may curb the ill effects of global warming.
The adopt-a-site project in Mt. Talomo – Lipadas and Mt. Talomo – Lipadas which is through monetary donation of P6, 000 per year has a period of five years. In Malagos, adoption is through personal tree planting and maintenance. There are still 25 hectares available for adoption; any interested party may inquire at DCWD Environment and Watershed Protection Division at 221-9400 local 210.
