DCWD celebrates local Earth Day with customers

 

As a government agency providing water service, the Davao City Water District popularized April 22, International Earth Day among its paying customers in Bajada and Matina offices.


The DCWD locally celebrated Earth Day by setting up information trivia on environment wherein various information education communication materials on water conservation and watershed rehabilitation were given to the walk – in customers last April 22, 2009.


This activity has been done by the office for years to concentrate the campaign to its customers who are stakeholders of environmental protection.

In relation, DCWD is inviting interested parties to join in its watershed rehabilitation efforts through its Adopt-A-Site Project in Malagos, Mt. Talomo-Lipadas and Tipolog – Tamugan watersheds. Likewise, DCWD calls everyone to join in its effort of water conservation and watershed protection by reporting street and water meter leaks and any acts of illegal water connection to the 24-hour Central Information Unit or complaints center  at 221-9412.

Earth Day began in 1970 as a protest movement that has evolved into a global celebration of the environment and commitment to its protection. This year, said celebration marks its 39th year with the theme “Green Generation” highlighting efforts towards a carbon – free economy.
