“The slower increase in production vis-à-vis billed consumption resulted to another record-breaking NRW this month.”

“The decreasing trend of NRW for the entire network was similar to that in Dumoy where 74% of total water production went. The decreasing trends started way back in 2004.”

The volume of water produced and distributed this month slightly increased 0.05 percent to 79.714 million cubic meters from 79.677 last month.
Starting in April 2009, monthly figures for production, consumption and non-revenue water refer to the past 12 months. For example, data for May 2009 refer to data from June 2008 to May 2009.
Very slight decreases in production were noted in five water systems this month, namely, Dumoy (0.08%), Tugbok (0.38%), Toril (0.56%), Calinan (0.83%) and Malagos (0.97%). |
|
The other four sustained increases in production with Lumondao and Lubogan garnering the biggest increments of 12 and 4 percent, respectively. The increase in Lumondao came as a result of the non-operation of the system during the first semester last year. The increase in Lubogan, on the other hand, was the result of the reopening of Dacoville well to supplement water supply in the area.
Production in Panacan and Cabantian both inched up 1 percent.

| Billed Consumption Up 0.62% |
|
Billed consumption registered an increase of 0.62 percent this month to 58.1 million cubic meters compared to the previous month’s 57.8 million. These figures refer to the past 12 months, i.e., from June 2008 to May 2009.
All nine water systems registered increases in billed consumption. Aside from the growing number of service connections, these increases may also be attributed to the district’s efforts to improve the accuracy of customers’ meters.
|
|
This was done through the massive implementation of the Change Meter Program this past year. The program aims to maintain the age of customers’ meters at 5 years or less. A study conducted a few years back found that water meters more than 5 years old tend to underestimate consumption reading.

| NRW Further Improves to 27.05% |
|
NRW continued on its declining trend, registering only 27.05 percent this month, 1.52 percent lower than last month’s 27.47 percent. This was the lowest NRW recorded since 2004.
These figures were based from a 12-month moving percentage computation of NRW. The method was used starting in April 2009 in order to come up with a more realistic basis for the evaluation of NRW efforts that are being implemented by the district. In the previous computation, differences in the reading periods covered by production and consumption data could disrupt the real trend, thereby making it difficult to trace the real effect of the strategies implemented.

Among the nine water systems, three registered below 25-percent levels of NRW. These are Dumoy (22.58 percent), Panacan (21.53 percent) and Lumondao (10.71 percent). On the other hand, Malagos and Lubogan Systems registered the highest NRW levels at 62.12 and 50.27 percent, respectively.
Compared to the previous month, only Lumondao and Lubogan Systems showed NRW increases of 11.91 and 3.43 percent, respectively.
The proportion of accounted losses to total production continued to slide, although unaccounted losses persistently followed an upward trend.
