| Water Production Rises to 6.7 Million Cu.M |

“Average daily production dropped in all but two water systems, namely, Cabantian and Lumondao, which exhibited 3.59 and 12.45 percent increases, respectively.”

“March 2009 registered the highest NRW in 15 months at 31.33 percent. A higher NRW was last recorded in March 2008 at 33.58 percent..”

Water production this month went up 4.05 percent to 6.7 million cubic meters from 6.4 million in February 2009. This is expected since the current month covered more days (31) compared to last month (28).
Average daily production, however, dropped 6.02 percent from 230 thousand cubic meters last month to only 216 thousand this month. Drops were exhibited by all water systems except for Cabantian whose average daily production went up 3.59 percent, and Lumondao which increased 12.45 percent in average daily production this month.

During the month, the production well at Dacoville, which was temporarily closed down in mid-2004, resumed operation in order to augment the inadequate supply of water in some areas served by Toril Water System. This greatly improved the water supply in a number of connections in the area. Dacoville will be operating as a separate water system, thus, bringing the total number of independent systems back to ten (10).

| Billed Consumption Increases to 4.6 Million Cu.M |
Billed consumption went up 1.58 percent to 4.6 million cubic meters this month from 4.5 million in February. This translates to an average daily billed consumption of 148,411 cubic meters and per capita daily consumption of 181 liters, far below last month’s 198 liters.
Billed consumption increased in all but two water systems—Dumoy, which slightly dropped 0.02 percent and Cabantian, which registered 0.45 percent lower consumption during the month.
The highest increases were exhibited by Toril and Calinan, whose billed consumption rose 17.83 and 10.76 percent, respectively compared to February this year. The substantial increase in Toril may be attributed to the improved water supply in some part of the area due to the supplemental supply from Lubogan at certain periods of the day.

| NRW Further Shoots Up to 31.33% |
The proportion of non-revenue water to total production this month swelled once more to 31.33 percent from 29.66 percent registered during the previous month. This registered the highest NRW in 12 months. A higher NRW was last recorded in March 2008 at 33.58 percent.
This month’s upsurge was brought about by a bigger increase in the total volume of water produced compared to that of the volume billed to consumers during the month. However, using the 12-month moving percentage computation, NRW this month slightly went down to only 28.23 percent from last month’s 28.41 percent and March last year’s 30.4 percent.
A gradually decreasing trend has been noted during the recent years.
Bulk of NRW this month came from unaccounted sources, which logged 26.03 percent of total production, up 6.17 percent from last month’s 24.52 percent. Unaccounted losses correspond to the hidden losses component in the IWA Water Balance.
Accounted losses consequently took on a decreasing pattern primarily due to reductions in water lost due to leaks.
