NRW Slides to 25.84%

Flushing of distribution lines is one of the components of non-revenue water (unbilled unmetered consumption).

“The total number of meter replacements could have been much closer to the year’s target had stocks been made available in June.”

Non-revenue water this semester registered 25.84 percent, 9.81 percent better than the 28.65 percent recorded in the same period last year and 0.84 percentage point closer to this year’s target. Although water production improved by 1.31 percent, that is, 39.74 million cubic meters from the 39.22 million cubic meters produced in the same semester last year, the increase in actual consumption was bigger at 5.30 percent to 29.47 million cubic meters  from only 27.99 million cubic meters last year.

The following  water systems brought down this semester’s NRW by exhibiting below 25 percent levels: Panacan (17%), Toril (19%), Lumondao (21%) and Dumoy (22%), .
The rest of the water systems showed way above this year’s target NRW, namely, Malagos (60%),  Lubogan (49%), Calinan (48%), Tugbok (42%), and Cabantian (26%).

NRW reduction efforts are now underway to help curb water losses at these problematic systems to help achieve the 25 percent target.

30,369 Meters Replaced

Some 30,369 five-year old and above water meters, which were identified as either stuck, defective or malfunctioning meters, were replaced during the semester.

Only 22,500 were targeted for this semester, but actual accomplishment reached 135 percent more. Compared last year, this was 57 percent higher, which registered only 19,343 for the first six months.

For this year, some 36,000 water meters were targeted to be replaced to help curb  NRW by minimizing metering inaccuracies.
Based on the initial evaluation of the effects of the Change Meter Program, the 30,369 replacements this semester has recovered 184,404 cubic meters of NRW or 0.46 percent in terms of percentage to total production. Given the average selling price of PhP16.23, this would amount to PhP2,992,952.

Pipelines Reach 1,336 Km

Total transmission and distribution lines now reached 1,336 kilometers from 1,294 kilometers same period last year, reaching as far as Barangay Lasang in the north and Barangay Lizada in the south.

The additional 3.28 percent of pipe length came from the following barangays, which were either laid with mainlines or had their pipelines improved ranging from various pipe types and

sizes, namely, barangays Ma-a, 10-A, 19-B, Panacan, Lacson,  Sto. Niño, and Catalunan Grande.

Other segments were from turned over subdivisions, specifically Priscilla Estates, Green Orchard Village, Monte Maria Village, Northcrest Subdivision, Toscana Subdvision, and Salcedo Village.
