Production Rises 0.13%

“Total production during the past 12 months increased 0.13 percent as compared to the 1.18 percent increase in billed consumption, resulting to NRW plummeting to a record low .”

“The past 12 months recorded the lowest NRW at 27.47% in five years. The last NRW lower than the current was recorded way back in December 2003 at 26.92%.”

The total volume of water produced registered an increase of 0.13 percent this month to almost 79.677 million cubic meters from 79.574 million in March. These figures pertain to the past 12 months with the adoption of the moving percentage method of NRW computation for monitoring purposes. Data for April 2009, for example, refer to May 2008 to April 2009 figures, and March 2009 data refer to April 2008 to March 2009. This method eliminates inconsistencies in periods covered.

Production in four water systems recorded increases during the one-month period. These systems are Panacan, Cabantian, Lumondao and

Lubogan, which increased 1.44, 1.37, 19.5 and 4.18 percent, respectively. The rest of the systems incurred very slight decreases, ranging from 0.02 percent (Dumoy) to 0.83 percent (Malagos).

With the resumption of operations at Dacoville production well, the supply problem experienced in Toril and Lubogan service areas has been contained and additional service connections can now be catered. Drilling an additional well in Toril can further address the problem on a long-term

Billed Consumption Swells 1.18%

Billed consumption during the past 12 months soared to 57.789 million cubic meters, the highest so far in DCWD’s history. For the month of April alone, billed consumption reached 5.3 million  cubic meters. Per capita daily consumption consequently rose 0.76 percent to 192 liters per person per day from only 191 in March. Although consumption usually peaks during the summer months of April and May, the high consumption this April could also

partly be the result of the massive implementation of the Change Meter Program during the past few months, thus, increasing metering accuracies.

All systems exhibited increases in billed consumption this month, with Panacan having the biggest increase of 23.6 percent, followed by Cabantian and Calinan which rose 19.9 and 18.7 percent, respectively.

NRW Hits 5-Year Record Low at 27.47%

NRW during the past 12 months hit a  record-breaking 27.47 percent as production remained stable while billed consumption soared to a record high. Lower NRW figures were last recorded in December 2003 at 26.92 percent.
Except for Lumondao, all systems exhibited decreases in 12-month NRW in April compared to the previous month, with Toril registering the largest drop at 5.11 percent, followed by Dumoy and Panacan which dropped 3.22 and 3.18 percent, respectively.

Declining NRW trends for the past years were noted in almost all water systems, the most apparent of which was shown by Dumoy. Those of Tugbok, Malagos

and Calinan were also observed to be declining, albeit a little bit more slowly and still at high levels. Lubogan and Lumondao, on the other hand, showed increasing trends in NRW, with Lubogan’s starting way back in 2004 and that of Lumondao for just about six months now. NRW in Toril also showed an increasing trend starting in early 2006 but seemed to rebound in the most recent months.
Data for the first four months of the year showed an NRW of 25.95 percent, just 0.95 points away from the year’s target of 25 percent.
